For an acting assignment, Doris decides to dress up like a streetwalker and see what the life is like (to a point). She ends up meeting a young girl, her own age, who ran away from home and was walking the streets to survive. To learn more she talks with this girl, only to end up in jail for soliciting. Doris convinces her mother to let this girl stay with them and go to school with her. After the girl sees what the school is like she asks if she can enroll.
